Treatment Advice
PPI's
Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) reduce the production of acid by reducing the activity of the proton pump in the stomach. This is because one of acid’s vital components, hydrogen, can no longer be produced. PPIs offer long-lasting relief but do take time to kick in. Some people continue to suffer from heartburn and indigestion symptoms when taking PPIs, however alginates such as Gaviscon Advance Suspension can be taken at the same time as PPIs to help relieve symptoms.
The active ingredients include omeprazole, esomeprazole, lansoprazole, pantaprazole and rabeprazole sodium.
Don't Put Up With PainIf you keep getting heartburn or indigestion, your symptoms are severe, or they do not respond to other medicines, it is worth consulting your GP.
